Sub-Metering
Introduction
t-mac sub-metering provides live information on energy consumption and enables proactively management of buildings and equipment to save energy, carbon and money.
The solution
a. Sub-metering of the mains multi-utilities (live data)
Viewing live data from your mains meters is a proactive way to manage energy consumption as you are gaining information on your energy cost and use as it happens, rather than a day later. For high energy consumers such as manufacturing sites, a one day wait to discover the site’s metering/energy consumption data causes extra, unnecessary cost.
b. Sub-metering of key activity areas / equipment
Sub-metering a building’s key activity areas helps to identify the reasons behind the mains metering data and hence the cause of the kWh data and energy saving opportunities. Once users know wheres and whys energy consumption is occurring, they can identify ways to reduce consumption and waste.
Benefits of viewing live data:
Build day-night profiles for each activity area, enabling businesses to identify excess consumption and waste, take the appropriate action and make savings immediately. In most cases t-mac has identified 20 per cent energy reduction from viewing day-night profiles as lighting, heating and air conditioning units are often unnecessarily left on overnight and at weekends.
c. Sub-metering of for tenant billing
Utilising MID approved meters, landlords can sub-meter tenanted floors and departments for accurate billing. Metering data is also available to tenants, enabling them to proactively manage their energy consumption and costs.

Energy Analysis Software Package
One of the most important areas of energy management is analysis. Many companies fail to properly analyse energy use and therefore cannot physically see/quantify what energy savings are being made.- t-mac’s Energy Analysis Dashboard (EAD) provides information on energy efficiency, cost, waste and return on investment (ROI).
- The EAD displays live data and statistics, while also quantifying activity levels. This allows the identification of energy cost per site/equipment.
- The EAD is particularly useful for businesses wishing to permanently display energy consumption patterns/targets. EG: ideal for providing a live display of energy use, reduction targets, benchmarking or efficiency practices to stakeholders on a corporate website or for a reception plasma screen viewed by clients/customers.
- EAD is an ideal tool to encourage and demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices.

Fast Facts
- Smaller buildings can benefit from the intelligence often available only to operators of larger premises.
- Continuous monitoring, control and asset-management of all activities within a building, from HVAC&R equipment to multi-storey properties.
- Remote management of building operations, equipment performance and use.
- Remote maintenance and diagnostics for pro-active facilities management.
- Wasted energy can be saved through t-mac’s intelligent energy management system.
- Improve the way energy is managed and potentially cut lighting costs by as much as 45 per cent.
- There is a potential saving of up to 6 per cent for every 1ºC lowered on a thermostat.
